Who is Abbey Brown?

Abbey Brown Soap Artisan is located in Chicago, IL.  Our little shoppe is committed to selling handmade natural bath products and wares from local artists.  We also open up our space for events and to teach classes in soap making, aromatherapy, herbal infusion, and more! Abbey Brown is a name chosen by creator, Deborah, and is actually a color of paint. We are still wondering if Abbey is ever going to show up to work!

About the Bloggers

DEBORAH KRAEMER - Owner and Creator, Deborah has been making soap since 2001.  Trying to find an alternative soap for her son’s sensitive skin, Deb stumbled into the world of soap making and started selling her soap at local farmer’s markets under the name Abbey Brown.  She has since started teaching other’s the craft of Soap Making, became a Registered Aromatherapist, opened two satellite locations in Chicago, and is always expanding the Abbey Brown product line with candles, body butters, and more!  She believes strongly in creating a community and network of people who share the same passions, and hopes this blog can lend as a home for that.

RANDI MUELLER - Working in our kitchen on and off since 2008, Randi wears many hats to make sure our products are made of the best quality, carefully packaged, and fully stocked.  She loves to research new trends and is always testing new products and recipes.  When she is not busy in our kitchen she is working on building a strong curriculum to expand our classes. At home, she is studying hard to complete her Master’s in Cultural Sustainability.  Randi’s passion for educating others about simple and natural personal care, brings the enthusiasm that Abbey Brown needs to continue to grow.

  1. i have a passion in soap making. i am wondering if you have some time to assist me in learning what it takes to run a soap business and that way,i can see if I have what it takes to do such a business. i am a military veteran and soap making is “theraputic” to me and currently it is my hobby. there are times i get tired of working a traditional office job and find that i want to be creative but have not found a company out there that allows me that, so i have been exploring what it would take to start my own business.
